Newsletter March 2022
What an eventful month it was! From the beginning to the end, March has been an exciting one!
We started with the spectacular “Land Of Freedom” Art exhibition. An original Idea of Rita Mawuena, founder of Si.Hene. The exhibition displayed beautiful handcrafted umbrellas that were themed around Ghana’s 65th Independence Day. These traditional umbrellas are used in royal ceremonies and hold great cultural significance in the community.
On March 6th, elaborate celebrations of the 65th year of Ghana’s Independence, brought together a really diverse crowd that we got to witness The Mix Design Hub.
We were delighted to see the smiles on your faces and the excitement in your eyes, whilst you discovered or, rediscovered certain aspects of the Ghanaian culture and History. Some of you joined us with our celebrations by dancing to the sounds of the drums, with the traditional Adowa performers, which was rejoicing to watch.
If something can be said about this Independence weekend, it is that it helped us feel the pride in our culture and made us realize that as much as we think we know our country, we can still learn, transmit and marvel at everything that seems to be so common to us.
The Chef’s Table & the Independence Day Brunch were a part of the celebration at The Mix Design Hub.
We came together with Villa Grace to curate two unique days of high-end Ghanaian gastronomy, highlighting the traditional cuisine whilst infusing innovation and creativity. The Chef’s Table was an exclusive event with a menu that emphasized on local products and the cuisine whilst presenting the dishes through a more refined form of plating. The Independence Day Brunch Menu was created to bring happiness to share a meal with friends and family. Days after this event, we were still receiving requests for the cinnamon dusted bofrot(which was on the menu!), which showed us how much you really appreciated the entire culinary experience.

Along this journey, We supported the Launch of the book “65” by Jean Quarcoopome, which commemorates art and design that explores the identity and history of Ghana. With a brilliant vibrant pink cover illustrating a beautiful black woman touching the Iconic Black Star, Symbol of the Nation- this book stole the hearts of many. It also helped us understand how it has been like, to be or becoming Ghanaian from 1957 to the current day.

Additionally we launched our Weekly Special Menu specifically designed for Lunch, every Wednesday to Friday, from 12pm to 4pm. Come surprise your taste buds with a different Menu each week, which includes a starter, a main course and a dessert for a modest rate. Do not hesitate to check our website ( TheMix), our social media platforms (@theMixgh) and our WhatsApp broadcasts to stay up to date!

April is at the door and we can’t wait to celebrate Ramadan, Easter, International Dance day and many more to come!
