July at Curry Public Library

Outdoor Movie Season Opens July 2nd

Outdoor movies are back! You, your family, your summer visitors, and your neighbors are all invited to join us most Saturdays in the parking lot of the library for a FREE movie. You can watch from the comfort of your car or bring lawn chairs. Past movie-goers also recommend sleeping bags or blankets to keep the evening chill away. We have an FM radio transmitter, so you can tune into sound from your car speakers or borrow one of our hand-held radios for the evening. After some trial and error last summer, we determined that it needs to be pretty dark to see the movie screen, so show times vary slightly based on date and weather conditions, but our estimated start times are listed on our website and below. For those who are early-to-bed, rest assured, as we move into later summer and fall, the start times will get earlier! In the event of rain, we will postpone the showing. We welcome you to arrive a little early to pick your spot, grab some concessions in the lobby (available by donation), and enjoy the evening scene. Below are our titles and show times for the month of July. To suggest a specific title for future showings, email (Based on our movie licensing agreement, we cannot show everything, but we would love to hear your suggestions and make it happen if we can).

Saturday, July 2 at 9:30pm:    The Incredibles (PG)
Saturday, July 9                      NO MOVIE (please join our library crew at Party in the Park)
Saturday, July 16 at 9:15pm    Star Wars: A New Hope (PG)
Saturday, July 23 at 9:15pm    Encanto (PG)
Saturday, July 30 at 9:15pm    Space Jam: A New Legacy (PG)
Concession supplies have been restocked and are ready to go including assorted movie candy, 50 lbs of Amish Country popcorn along with coconut oil, and a gleaming popcorn machine. Only the best for our patrons! Concessions are available by donation in the lobby during outdoor movie screenings.
Thursday Watercolor Group Displays Work in Group Show

Curry Public Library’s own Thursday Watercolor Meetup Group will be displaying their paintings during the months of July and August. Group members Leif Allmendinger, Dianna Brown, Kathleen Overstreet, Dauna Roberts, and Jean Sadler will be showing their work.

Join the group for a free art opening with refreshments on Thursday, July 7th at 5:30pm. Meet the artists, view their work, ask questions, and visit with community members.

Interested in learning more about the watercolor group? The group meets every Thursday at 3pm in the upstairs conference room at Curry Public Library and is free and open to the public. Bring your projects and work on them with other painters. Although the group is not a formal class, beginners are welcome to come and get ideas from more experienced painters.
