Goizueta Business Library: Featured Resources

GBL Featured Database: Gartner
The Goizueta Business Library’s Business Research Databases Blog Series highlights business databases available to the Emory community. See below for recently featured databases, as described by Goizueta Business librarians. For additional resources, view the GBL Blog, or the Business Research LibGuide.
EMIS is a database useful for two very different types of research. Its core content focuses on over 168 emerging markets, with a focus on companies, industries and countries. The type of information you can expect includes: Companies (e.g., peers, company profiles, news, lists, and financial statements); Industries (e.g. news, statistics, comparing industry trends, and companies by industries); and Countries (e.g., overview, macroeconomic statistics and forecasts, and news).
Gartner is an excellent resource for gathering market research reports on all aspects of the IT landscape including forecasts, best practices, case studies, competitive analysis, market share and SWOTs. Gartner also provides interactive views of markets and offerings through the Gartner Magic Quadrant (as per the Gartner website, “a graphical competitive positioning of four types of technology providers in fast-growing markets: Leaders, Visionaries, Niche Players and Challengers”) and Hype Cycles, which show in graphic form how technologies and applications mature and are adopted by consumers and businesses.
Harvard Business Review (HBR) is a general management magazine that publishes new and classic ideas from industry experts on smart management thinking, strategy, innovation, leadership and more. You will find HBR articles dating back to 1922 in Business Source Complete.
DataPlanet pulls data from 550 databases sourced from over 90 public and private organizations, both U.S. and internationally. This includes 13.5 billion datasets. Data points can be filtered by county, MSA, census-tract, state, and country level. DataPlanet covers a variety of topics, and you can browse the information and data that is available by subject, source, or geography.

Featured Database: LGBT History and Culture Since 1940, Parts I & II

With material drawn from hundreds of institutions and organizations, including both major international activist organizations and local, grassroots groups, the documents in the Archives of Sexuality and Gender: LGBTQ History and Culture since 1940, Part I present important aspects of LGBTQ life in the second half of the twentieth century and beyond.

The archive illuminates the experiences not just of the LGBTQ community as a whole, but of individuals of different races, ethnicities, ages, religions, political orientations, and geographical locations that constitute this community. Historical records of political and social organizations founded by LGBTQ individuals are featured, as well as publications by and for lesbians and gays, and extensive coverage of governmental responses to the AIDS crisis.
