Hello <<First Name>>

It's THAT time of the year - when we all tap into our creativity (and our pockets) and do what we can to thank the NSRI for all they do for us.  It's time for "ANYTHING THAT FLOATS" and this year we're making it a whole weekend of festivities.

In the past we hosted a fun day and raised whatever we could but this year, we decided to understand what will REALLY help Station 9 to perform even better than they always have and here's what we've decided...

We'd like to raise enough funds to help them purchase a new JetRIB.  The total cost is R400 000 but if we can't manage every cent required, we'd like, at the very least, to make a meaningful donation.

A weekend filled with great activities, provides scope for a bigger and better contribution AND, though we don't really need one, we're always happy to have a really good excuse to socialise and have some fun!  In addition, we're hoping to broaden the appeal to more than just the trusty club members that we always turn to for help.  This is a way to get local schools, organisations, clubs and businesses involved in the fun and adding to the coffers for this worthy cause.
There are at least three ways to get involved:
  1. Sponsor (or donate)
  2. Race, and/or
  3. Spectate
The details are provided below and we really hope you'll participate in any way you can.  Many of us have had the need to call on the NSRI in the past and, we all would like to know that, should we need them anytime in the future, they're well equipped to do whatever is necessary.

Please be sure to spread the word to anyone and everyone you think might be willing and able to get involved.  Feel free to contact the club any time if you need more information or assistance and please read all the way to the end so you know exactly what's planned.
Kind regards

Sea Rescue is a charity staffed by volunteers that are on call, day and night throughout the year.  Station 9 is based in our harbour and it's the team we call on when someone is in trouble.

Anything That Floats is our way of giving back and the whole weekend is hosted by the Yacht Club in aid of NRSI Station 9.

The race is quite critical to the success of the weekend and truly is the most fun!

We need all kinds of entries - social, school, universities, clubs, businesses and everything in between.  A few NSRI stations are on board already and we're hoping you'll put a team together and issue a challenge to a competitor or rival that you'd love to race against!

Thursday night is comedy night and the official opening of the anything That Floats Weekend.  Here's what's on the cards:

Lots of laughs
Debi on the Sax
Harvesters platters for dinner, and
Great cocktails

Cost per head is R120 (members) or R150 (visitors)

The weekend closes with a 'gourmet' braai accompanied by Kirya Kuti (sponsored).   You just need to show up and we'll do the rest!

The cost is R120 (for members) and R150 (visitors).  If you're just along for drinks, music and vibe, tickets are R40 (for members) and R50 (for visitors).

We will be providing a PayFast link for bookings for the weekend activities but members can make an early booking by replying to this email.

You can book for individual events or purchase a 'Weekend Pass' for the WHOLE weekend at R500 (for members) and R600 (for visitors).

You can choose to be an Anything That Floats sponsor (or donor).

Choose your level of involvement, ranging from being a major sponsor and having the event carry your business/organisation name, to offering a prize for the race or a raffle on the day - and a whole lot in between.

Different types of sponsorship have different benefits.

They are all outlined here

If you can't see yourself floating (or sinking) in the harbour, then come along and witness all the brave (or crazy) people that are out there against the elements!

'Spectating' also covers supporting activities such as the comedy evening, gala dinner etc.  More about them all here and if you read on.
There are a limited number of weekend passes available to make this easier for you.  More info further on.

This is a more formal event with pre-arranged seating.  The theme is Italian and on the agenda we have:

  • Drinks on arrival (sponsored by KWV with Fitch & Leeds),
  • Italian food (3 great courses with names most of us won't be able to pronounce),
  • A bottle or two of Vino per table (sponsored by KWV)
  • The amazing voice of Chris S with his stunning Italian repertoire.

Cost per head is R270 (members) R300 (visitors).

Take part in our Wine Auction and make a difference for Station 9! All proceeds from the Auction goes directly towards our audacious goal.

You can assist by donating wines before the event and buying them on the night.

Look out for sneak peaks in the coming weeks of what's going under the hammer - and who's holding the hammer!
