RAFFLE & DRAW

Last week's draw rolled over and there's currently R3 520 in the kitty for Friday night.

We have a bubbly hamper up for grabs in this weeks raffle.

REGATTA REMINDER

A final reminder about the False Bay Yacht Club Spring Regatta on 21, 22 and 24 September.

Entries should be in already.  Please let us know if you're participating.
GREENPEACE

One of the larger Greenpeace ships, Arctic Sunrise, will be arriving in Cape Town to participate in a week-long programme of events to positively impact the planet.

She arrives on the 17th of October and will dock at the V&A Waterfront.  The local team is hoping to gather a floatilla to accompany her into the harbour.  Please let us know if you're interested in participating and click here for a stunning presentation outlining the programme.
LEFT TAP, RIGHT TAP

A big thank you to all the 'pardners' that showed up and showed us how line dancing is done.  It was great fun and we'll definitely be doing it again.

YEE HAW!
CLOSING TIME

Until further notice, the club will be closed on a Monday.

If you still don't have cell phone access sorted out, please contact the club office.
HAVE YOU NOTICED

If you pop into the club you'll find that the notice boards are either empty or missing completely.  Refurbing them is part of the maintenance exercise.

Fortunately all the notices that were on the board had already been up for a few weeks so you won't be missing anything new.  We've also popped everything into a Flip File and stored it at the bar in case you're desperate to revisit anything.

We'd like to extend a warm GBYC welcome to the following new club members:

ROMAN ROCK REVISITED

Roman Rock has turned into a bit of a 'free for all' and - at this stage - it looks like no racing.  Options include sailing to False Bay on Saturday 14 September at about 10:00 and staying overnight or getting out onto the water on either Saturday or Sunday.

Please keep an eye on the sailing group for updates.  Click here to join if you aren't already on the group.

KICK-OFF

Introducing three levels or participation in the Rugby World Cup:

  1. Next Friday, in addition to the raffle, we will be drawing teams for the RWC.  You can OWN A TEAM for R250.  No need to be there on the night but obviously, we'd love that!  We'll let you know how the booty will be split at the draw click here to enter
  2. A CLOSEST SCORE kitty will be in place at each game for R20 per entry.  Winner takes all.
  3. Anyone sporting BOK TEAM GEAR at all SA games will go into a draw for random prizes on the day - culminating in a draw for a Springbok jersey!  This includes quarters, semi's and final (whether or not we make it that far)!
The first game is at 11:45 on Saturday 21 Sep and we already have 15 people booked for the game.  There will be food on sale!

IN A FIX

Much needed maintenance and painting is underway at the club.  We grabbed the opportunity to deploy a team because of the weather (as they couldn't work outside today)!

They've done ceilings, doors and window frames.  On Monday and Tuesday they'll tackle walls, bar counter and furniture.
We will be closed on Monday (new norm), Tuesday will be a little hectic during the day (until 17:00) and we'll be fully up and running on Wednesday.

PLEASE STAY IN TOUCH...

We always welcome your feedback. If you have any news or views or even great pictures you would like to share with us we would love to hear from you.
Please join the GBYC WhatsApp group - click here to do that and then personal message me from there!  You can also phone or email the club!
