6. On this day in SBC history...

In 1992 - Draper calls Baptists to focus on ethnic work to reach nation

In its efforts to reach ethnic groups throughout the United States, the Southern Baptist Convention must focus on the people, build churches and tie those churches to the denomination, James T. Draper Jr. said in the opening session of the first SBC national multi-ethnic language conference.

7. BP Sports Update

  • MLB: Juan Soto is a Padre now...but Willson Contreras is, oddly enough, still a Cub. The Nationals got a haul in return from San Diego including four of the top ten prospects in the Padres' system.
  • MLB: Vin Scully, the greatest baseball announcer of all time, passed away last night at age 94. He was the voice of the Dodgers for 67 years.
  • NFL: Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross was fined $1.5 million and suspended from any activity with the team through October 17 for tampering with players and coaches.
