1. SWBTS announces 100 percent scholarship for IMB missionaries

Calling it a “historic new initiative,” Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary President Adam W. Greenway announced in a video released Thursday (August 11) that beginning with the fall 2022 semester, the Fort Worth institution will provide a full tuition scholarship to all International Mission Board missionaries enrolled in the seminary’s master’s degrees and doctoral programs.

The Southern Baptist response to the devastating flash floods in Kentucky the last week of July continues, and volunteers from 16 different Southern Baptist state conventions have been engaged in the clean-up and recovery process so far.

In 1993 - Former Sunday school editor Howard Colson dies at 84

Howard Colson, 84, retired editorial secretary for the Southern Baptist Sunday School Board in Nashville, died Aug. 12 in a Darlington, S.C., nursing home after a lengthy illness.

7. BP Sports Update

  • MLB: The Cubs jumped out to a quick lead and held on for a 4-2 win over the Reds in the Field of Dreams game. This is easily the best night of the year for MLB. We need an All-Star game and Home Run Derby here. 
  • NFL: The Ravens beat the Titans 23-10 last night in preseason action giving Baltimore 21 straight preseason wins. They haven't lost a preseason game since 2015. That's your crazy and meaningless stat of the day.
