Stories about the food we don't eat...
Have you heard about Stop Food Waste Australia? This new entity was launched on Boxing Day 2020 to coincide with the post-Christmas Day food waste peak. The Hon Sussan Ley, Minister for the Environment, and Hon Trevor Evans, Assistant Minister for Waste Reduction and Environmental Management made the announcement through a joint media release: Morrison Government sets food waste firmly in its sights.

Stop Food Waste Australia is run by Fight Food Waste Ltd, which is the legal entity behind the Fight Food Waste CRC. Led by new Chief Operating Officer Mark Barthel (who also continues as Special Advisor to the Fight Food Waste CRC),
and staffed by Claire Kneller (from the Waste and Resource Action Programme, United Kingdom) and Carolyn Cameron and Sam Oakden (from Food Innovation Australia Ltd), Stop Food Waste Australia will:
  • implement a voluntary commitment program for organisations to commit to reducing their food waste
  • develop sector action plans to deliver key projects to reduce food waste
  • drive collaboration among the food supply chain and governments
  • bring you all on our journey with stories of success.
Stop Food Waste Australia foundation partners are from across the entire food supply chain and all levels of government:

You can follow Stop Food Waste Australia on LinkedIn and Twitter, with a new website coming soon.

Stop Food Waste Australia will be THE one-stop-shop for food waste news in Australia, so we're thrilled to announce that the next edition of this newsletter will look different. It will broaden its Fight Food Waste CRC research-focus to include all things food waste. So please share with your networks and encourage others to sign up!
