The RMIT, Woolworths and Sustainability Victoria project team has delivered a wide range of communication resources from new research including a 1,000 person online survey and in-home interviews. This research with Australian households revealed a range of practices around saving food using packaging in the home, different practices for various food categories, and a need for consumer education about packaging features for reducing food waste. MORE>>

With funding from FIAL, our next SME Solutions Centre project has commenced! Pacific Ag is a family-owned business growing potatoes in the southern Riverina, New South Wales. Due to the strict specifications and customer standards, not all of the produce is used. Therefore, this project focuses on delivering an optimal process for extracting potato protein from the graded-out potatoes and producing high-quality potato protein powder. MORE>>

As a result of population growth, volumes of biodegradable wastes including food and wastewater sludge will continue to increase in Australia. Disposal of these to landfill is not sustainable therefore anerobic digestion is recommended. This project will utilise a pilot scale granulator to process digestate derived from anaerobic digestion of food waste and sewerage sludge (biosolids) to produce an enhanced, practical, usable biofertiliser. MORE>>

Australian Packaging and Processing Machinery Association (APPMA) chairman Mark Dingley said the most important factors in the decision to postpone were the uncertainty around protecting the health and safety of the industry community and preserving the experience and value that exhibitors and visitors receive from attending events such as AUSPACK.
