Prairie to Pine
Weekly News

The United Church of Canada
We acknowledge with gratitude the traditional territories of our Indigenous and Metis neighbours and their hospitality. We offer our respect and commitment to living into right relationship with all our relations.
October 31, 2019

As we regroup this fall we have made a few changes in staff responsibilities. Cherry Abad, Administrative Support Staff for the Prairie to Pine Regional Council will now be assuming responsibility for the publication of the Regional Council Weekly News. Information that you would like included in the Weekly News should be sent to Cherry through this email by noon on Wednesdays: PrairietoPine@united-church.ca

We REALLY want to facilitate the sharing of news about pastoral concerns, celebrations, educational opportunities and events so PLEASE share them with us. Due to the volume of requests, we will be pleased to publish announcements about events on 2 occasions before the deadline for registration and/or the actual event.

We will be aiming to send out the Weekly News on Thursdays.

Old Conference of MNWO website

Several people have accessed the website for the former Conference of Manitoba & Northwestern Ontario in search of process or policy information related to Prairie to Pine Regional Council or contact information for Communities of Faith or Ministry Personnel. Most information on this website has NOT been updated since December 31, 2018 and may therefore be inaccurate. Energy is being dedicated to getting the new Prairie to Pine Regional Council website up and running hopefully at some point in September. You may be able to access some contact information for active Ministry Personnel and Communities of Faith through the General Council  “Locator”:
https://www.united-church.ca/search/locator/all/11604

For Information related to Regional Council policies, procedures and resources related to ministry personnel, lay leadership or communities of faith , please monitor the  “Pastoral Relations Ponderings” section in the Prairie to Pine Regional Council Weekly News and/or contact the  Regional Council Office or the Pastoral Relations Minister, Judy Hare.

FROM YOUR OFFICE OF VOCATION MINISTER

It is part of the responsibility of the Office of Vocation Minister to monitor credential matters for all ministry personnel and candidates. I have been doing some checking to ensure everyone is up to date with their annual declaration (related to Police Records Check), and I have found a number of people have not completed this. This is an important piece for all clergy, and candidates for ministry to complete. To do so, please go to your profile page on Church Hub. On the right hand side of your profile page should be a link to the annual declaration. If the link isn’t there, please contact IT support (helpdesk@united-church.ca).

If  you have not yet received or responded to your email invitation to join Church Hub please contact General Council Office (ministry@united-church.ca
or DKigar@united-church.ca). Thank you so much for your co-operation with this part of the change in reporting.
