The Psalms are the prayerbook of Israel and the prayerbook of the Church. In our liturgy, we respond to the first reading with a psalm. Jesus would have learned the psalms by heart from Mary & Joseph. He prayed verses of Psalm 22 from the cross. It is appropriate that the Book of Psalms is found at the very center and heart of our Bibles. Psalms are especially powerful when our lives are in sorrow or when we grieve. Psalms of sorrow include 6, 10, 38, and 130. Why not take a minute today and reference these in your Bible for times of grief or loss?
