Welcome to this Post Election Edition of FitzTalk.
This edition provides an update on the recently held Yarra City Council election, our ‘Meet the Mayor’ opportunity and our Annual General Meeting both to be held on Thursday 26 November commencing at 6.00pm and followed by virtual drinks at 7.30pm.
The 2020-2024 Yarra City Council was sworn in on Monday 16 November following the postal election that achieved a 70% plus turn-out across our 3 Wards - Nicholls, Langridge and Melba.
Elected to Council were:
Melba Ward: Cr Claudia Nguyen (Deputy Mayor), Cr Edward Crossland, Ct Herschel Landes
Langridge Ward: Cr Anab Mohamud, Cr Gabrielle de Vietri (Mayor), Cr Stephen Jolly
Nicholls Ward: Cr Amanda Stone, Cr Bridgid O’Brien, Cr Sophie Wade
Monday night also saw the election of Cr Gabrielle de Vietri as Mayor and Cr Claudia Nguyen, Deputy Mayor. We congratulate them both and wish them well in their respective roles.
We are looking forward to engaging with all councillors over the coming 12 months and to working to achieve our objectives of a liveable, sustainable and equitable City of Yarra.
We are pleased to announce a virtual Meet the Mayor opportunity on Thursday 26 November at 6.00pm (to 6:20pm) prior to the commencement of our AGM.

This is an opportunity to hear from the Mayor and her plans and expectations over the coming 12 months. We invite you to submit questions prior to her joining us on zoom. A selection of questions that reflect your interests will be asked of the Mayor. Please send your question to email@example.com
As we have indicated, we are looking forward to working with the new Council on the many challenges and opportunities that will confront us over the coming months.
Our virtual Annual General Meeting will commence at 6.20pm via Zoom following Meet the Mayor. This is an opportunity for members to hear of past activities and to provide direction for the coming year(s).
The Annual Report will be emailed to registered FRA members along with other papers that have been prepared for the AGM including our –
· Financial Statement
· Draft Plan FRA 2020 – 2024 setting out our priorities and activities over the next 4 years
· New Rules for the Association as proposed by the Committee.
Following the formal AGM there will be an opportunity for members to enjoy zoom drinks together and have general talk for 30 or so minutes.
