Hey there. It's been a minute.

In the past few months, we've done quite a lot of lobbying, held quite a few town halls, and we've met a lot of you there.

If we didn't get a chance to meet you, we will. In the meantime, some updates.

Town Hall For Our Lives

On Monday, June 17, we held a town hall with Black Lives Matter Youth and a number of other organizations, including NAACP Youth and College, and more.

We talked about gun violence and it's effects on schools; not just in that school shootings exist, but how those shootings, mass shootings or not, affect student bodies.

We also talked about the school to prison pipeline, police brutality, and more.

Lobby For Our Lives

On Wednesday, June 19, we met with members across our chapters in a Lobby For Our Lives at the California state capitol to push forward common sense legislation.

Since meeting with our legislators, six different pieces of legislation have made it out of both committees and are on the next step in their legislative process. Small steps, but steps nonetheless.

What's next? More town halls.

We're taking a break over the remainder of summer so we can focus on transitioning our leadership board. That way, we can hit the ground running.

But you know us. There's always something happening.

Right now, we need a little help contacting our 2020 presidential candidates to invite them to a PRESIDENTIAL TOWN HALL in Corona. We have the emails and phone numbers — we just need your hands on deck. If you call or email, shoot us a message so we know how many emails we've sent.

They've all shouted us out on the debate stage, but will they actually talk to us?

Linked here is a document with different email templates for you to send out to a candidate of your choice. Or to candidates of your choice. Keep an eye out on our Twitter so you can join us in some friendly Twitter fire later today and this weekend.

Get involved.

We're opening up applications for our state board. Experience or no experience, we want to get new perspectives and voices on the panel.

So, if you're a student — high school or college — looking to get involved on the state level, this is your call.

Applications are through this form here and are due July 10th, 2019. Once those are done, we'll shift into a leadership transitional period. As soon as August rolls around, we're shifting focus to our school and city chapters to hit the ground running.

That's all for today, but you'll see another letter in your inbox soon.

While you're waiting, help us move forward:
Have a chapter event to promote or a question about a policy? Wondering what the board's favorite colors are? Send your questions, comments, and concerns in an email back and we'll be sure to include them in the next letter.

See you next time, dear friend.
