FRIENDS OF FOG LANE PARK AWARDED LEVEL 5 OUTSTANDING NEIGHBOURHOOD AWARD by BRITAIN IN BLOOM!!!!

BLOOMING BRILLIANT –FOG LANE PARK HAS BEEN AWARDED LEVEL 5 OUTSTANDING NEIGHBOURHOOD AWARD by BRITAIN IN BLOOM!!!!

This is the first time we have entered as a Friends’ group, so to be awarded the highest level is a phenomenal accolade to our AMAZING Gardening group who, led fearlessly by Pam, have turned out weekly rain and shine to improve our park, and what an improvement there has been!!

If you would like to join our award winning gardeners – they meet each Wednesday by the Friends Room at the Pavilion 10-12

We have also had our first in person activities since before Covid – We had family friendly Pumpkin carving , Bird Box Painting and wand making over half term. It was an absolute joy to see so many people getting involved and having fun. We were having so much fun we forgot to count numbers – but we estimate about 40 families came along to carve and paint and about 120 children came and made wands.

It reminded me again what a joy it is to be part of our community and helped me and the rest of the committee stay focussed when we knuckled down to do some of the less enjoyable bits that need doing to keep improving the park. Which this month seems to have been trying to find out how to expedite removal of burnt out motorbikes…. Anyway there is, as I type, currently no complete burnt out bikes, and hopefully the remaining debris from those that have been removed will be remedied soon.

Finally we have a venue confirmed for our next meeting – on Wednesday 24th November 7-8pm at Christ Church South Manchester (on the corner facing the park) Please consider coming along to help us improve our wonderful wild park, if you are intending to come, please let us know before the 21st November so we can get agendas etc to you beforehand.

Hope to see you in the park,

Alice
