UUSMV Universal Justice in 2022
Climate resolution for 2022
EARTH DAY is 52 years old today. Let’s pause to celebrate an important trend: The combined emissions of six common air pollutants have fallen 73 percent since 1970. Over the same time period, the U.S. economy has grown over three and half times in size, the total number of miles Americans have driven has almost tripled and energy consumption has increased 44 percent. Slow and steady has been winning the race over the past 50 years, but we need to substantially increase our pace of mitigation to avert climate disaster for our grandchildren.

Climate Week
Join us for Climate Week coming May 8-14! Participating faith groups are ringing their bells each day at noon, 40 times to signify an island free of fossil fuel energy sources by 2040. We need bell ringer helpers each day that week. Just come to the chapel at 11:55 am, ready to pull the bell rope ! Let me know if would like to help —b.caseau@gmail.com
We Invite You to Share
Sometimes it can feel as though we have great ideas and vision but are not as great on taking actions to realize our vision. In a recent meeting of the Allies for Racial Equity, we shared what we've been doing individually and in groups to dismantle white supremacy, racism and all intersecting oppressions. It was enlightening and helped us realize that we are taking actions. We want to invite you to join us. We invite you to share actions you have taken or are taking to help the UUSMV achieve our 2025 vision to accountably dismantle white supremacy, racism, and all intersecting oppressions in ourselves, our community, our institutions, and our democracy.
Please share what you or your committees and groups (in UUSMV or the Island) are doing. In what collaborations have you engaged? How are you educating yourself and others? We will share our cumulative work in the Friday newsletters.
