CCI Philippines News

National Director

What do you do when a virulent illness suddenly pounces upon one person after another in your city without warning? You isolate yourself from other people, that's what. The CoVid-19 disease struck the nations of the world and upset even the best plans of people, rich and poor alike. I will not spell out the details here; everyone knows about the pandemic that continues to ravage the world. I had to cancel all my activities within the next six weeks without any assurance that everything would be back to normal in that span of time. All of our workshops, promotion, visitation, graduation and seminars for March and April had to be put on hold. All of our classes had to be suspended indefinitely in an effort to avoid becoming unwitting carriers of the virus. Fortunately, my two sons Ezy and Melvyn were able to come home safe just before the lockdown.
I picked up the phone and started calling all of our staff one by one. I’m grateful to find out that they are all safe, for now. We cannot travel or meet in person now, but we managed by God’s grace to accomplish some tasks in the two weeks before the travel restrictions were set in place.

Norie Jean Barba is a BTCL student at Fidelity Baptist Church in Koronadal City, South Cotabato. She told me that she used to be impatient with other people, but now because of CCI training, she is learning to adjust to other people’s personalities. Her eyes glowed as she described to me how she became more and more interested in the Bible as they are studying Course #2, Old Testament Survey. She is currently serving at Fidelity Baptist Church as a Sunday school teacher but she would like to teach the Bible in her own province which is 3 hours away by motorcycle. She also plans to train tribal Sunday school teachers back home.

Promotions & TTWs

Before the lockdown, I went to the town of Marilao to meet with Gerry Rivera and Tom Peralta whom I met at a pastors’ gathering in Pulilan. They agreed to hold a Teacher Training Workshop (TTW) in Marilao in April (if that will be possible).

Pastor Ed Edosur went to San Pedro, Laguna to meet with a pastor who attended a TTW a couple of years ago. This pastor plans to start a CCI class in April with 10-15 students.

New Classes

A pastor who graduated from BTCP in Binondo, Manila started a new class in Tondo with ten students this month.

A new class was started by Pastor Jim Florida of Perlas School of Ministry in Novaliches, Quezon City. He had attended the TTW which I led at our church in Baliwag, Bulacan in July 2019.

Pastors in Quezon, Palawan started four CCI classes with a total of 23 students from tribal groups on the island.
A church in Cebu City that hosted a TTW in March last year has decided to start a new class with 35 students but were not able to actually start this month because of the lockdown.

Teacher Training Workshop (TTW)

Pastor Manny Gocon and I held a TTW at Journey International Church in Tutuban in Tondo, Manila with 20 participants. This TTW was organized by Pastor Jun Caparas who has been teaching BTCP for many years and Pastor Marlon Arcilla, one of the first BTCP graduates in the Philippines.

Prayer and Praise
From Henry Ventura: National Director- Philippines
  • Let us continue to humbly seek the Lord’s provision during this time that many people cannot go to work.
  • Please pray for peace of mind and confidence that the Lord is doing something wonderful in spite of, and even by means of, the current CoVid-19 calamity.
  • Pray that every member of CCI Philippines would shine as bright lights in this world by exhibiting a hopeful and infectious faith even while caring for the spiritual and physical needs of one another and of the lost.

Thank you for praying and for giving!
Through your prayers and the help of the Holy Spirit (Phil. 1:19), the CCI ministry is growing and is effectively equipping God’s servants to make a difference in their communities for the glory of God.
