November 2021
Welcome to Michael Hutchinson who has said ‘Yes’ to being our interim Community Leader until a discernment process can start in the new year for a permanent leader. Michael recently stepped down from the leadership of the Brisbane community, a position he held for many years.

He is currently working part time for L’Arche Australia in the area of Quality Assurance and Compliance. Some of you may remember him on the occasional Saturday morning Coffee Club Zoom meeting and he hopes to join us via Zoom at our Christmas party.

Plans are underway for the Christmas party at St Nicholas Church Hall on Sunday 12 December from 4.30- 8.30pm. Our favourite band from Catch Music, The Includers, will have us all singing and dancing while the food that people bring is always amazing. At 8pm core members will dress up and enact the Nativity while Stephen Gibbs leads us in Carol singing.

Christmas Party Invitation

Feel free to send our Christmas card to friends and family; all are welcome, the more the merrier.

The last time we were all together was at the AGM on 13 November. We thank Chair Derek Meates and board members who have committed to serving for a further year. It was great to have Greg Smith and Claire Lawler join us via Zoom.

We all enjoyed singing, ‘We’ll Make this House a Home’ as the core members and assistants recreated a typical Monday night at the Dianella house, reminding us all of the value of having a place at the table.

After the AGM Assistants Sharea and Karen took Ali, Pia and Yolanda to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at Crown.

In the lead-up to Christmas Nora has brought an Advent Wreath to the house and will lead the household in honouring the period of preparation for the birth of Jesus at Christmas.

After lighting the first candle, Alison played Isiah the prophet foreshadowing that Mary, played by Sarah, will give birth to Jesus.

Carols in the Park

Core members Yolanda and Sarah are proud members of Voiceworks Plus, an inclusive vocal ensemble group in Shenton Park.

They extend a warm welcome to everyone to come to this community event on Wednesday 8 December from 6pm.

BYO picnic blanket or chair, picnic food, drinks and vocal chords and meet us at the Lake Jualbup Rotunda, Shenton Park.
