December 2021

We are kicking off our Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service project! Volunteer NEMS will be collecting new socks and underwear drive for those in need. There will be a box in the following locations, and all items will stay within the county in which they are collected! If you'd like to donate via Amazon, send your deliveries to Volunteer NEMS 213 West Main Street Tupelo, MS 38804! Would you mind sharing the graphic below and helping us make this a success?

Thanks so much for all that you do and for all of your help!

Don't forget to turn in your volunteer hours to be entered into the Lunch on Us drawing! Reporting your organization's hours every month gifts you extra entries! The quarterly report will be due in January :)

We have 2022 packed full of learning to look forward to and plan for!
Have you wanted to up your social media game? We have training planned for that!
Do you wish you knew more about the Get Connected site and how it could make your job easier? Got training planned for that too!
We are also planning quarterly disaster meetings that will include all of the 13 counties in our coverage area and anyone who would like to be involved in disaster recovery. We can not correctly help in a disaster if we don't plan during blue skies.

We will be updating you on dates for all of these significant upcoming events soon!

Additionally, if you have ideas about training you would like to receive, please let us know! Just email with your suggestions.

Our spotlights of the month are featured in our volunteer and nonprofit newsletters, all of our social media outlets, and also shared by United Way of NEMS and the CREATE Foundation! I am currently in need of volunteers for the Volunteer Spotlight of the Month. Would you mind sending me the name and a short paragraph telling why you would like to nominate this volunteer? I would love to give them a letter and certificate from Volunteer NEMS, Volunteer MS, and the First Lady of Mississippi as well! We will be having a volunteer recognition reception in April to recognize our volunteers of the month so, be on the lookout for more info about that coming up! If your nonprofit wants to be in the nonprofit spotlight, I would love to hear more about what you have going on and share it with the world!

We list events and programs on both websites below and our social media sites!

Volunteer NEMS gets calls EVERY DAY from people who want to volunteer, and of course, we direct them to the online hub. But, if your organization is not registered there, how will these potential volunteers know about you?
We were so excited to hear that one of our organizations received 30 new volunteers in 4 days after registering their volunteer opportunities on the hub and sharing them in their media releases!
It is a free service, and we would LOVE to help you!

Register today - then post a volunteer opportunity or two. If you had rather I post them for your group, I'd be happy to! We can also post your events.  Just let me know; it's FREE
