Hello everyone!

Despite the uncertain times, we have been busy over the last few months continuing with projects that we have already shared with you, such as the Eight Foundation face masks, planning our fundraising activities for 2021 and spreading a little happiness with some community initiatives. Please explore our activities below!

Since our last newsletter, we are delighted to have come to the assistance of 12-year-old James.

Despite having to rely on a wheelchair due to a condition called ‘quadriplegic cerebral palsy’, this wonderfully social and happy young man is a full-time pupil at Portchester Community School and uses ‘eye gaze’ technology to communicate and participate in school life.

Referred to the Foundation by a member of the Eight Wealth Management team - Louise Jarvis, we learned how the current version of this specialised equipment used by James was not efficient enough for him to fulfil his potential progress, so we funded the purchase of a new ‘Tobii eye gaze system’ for James to not only complete his schoolwork independently, but also interact with his friends online, solely by using his eyes.

James’ mother told us what a change James’ newly found independence has brought to both his life and that of his family. She said, “We are overwhelmed at the generosity of the Foundation and the joy this has bought to James’ life.”
We even received a message from James himself using the technology:
On 13th November, to celebrate World Kindness Day, we decided to leave eight bouquets in random places to provide some much-needed cheer. With locations across Hampshire, including a park, bus stop, an ambulance station, care homes and a doctor’s surgery, we received some joyful feedback, proving that, sometimes, the smallest gestures can make the biggest differences.
We also gave some kindness gifts to the patients, families and staff on the Piam Brown children’s cancer ward at Southampton General Hospital.
This year, instead of the traditional raffle in aid of Eight Foundation, held at the annual Christmas party, the staff of Eight Wealth Management will be gathering around its first ‘Giving Tree’.

The Giving Tree is one that is decorated with labels and staff will pick a label from the tree, then purchase and donate a gift to whichever of these recipients is on their chosen label:
  • Women and/or children in one of four local refugee centres
  • Lonely and vulnerable people in our elderly community
  • Women and babies in the Postnatal Mental Health Unit in Winchester
  • Children in local residential care
Would you like to get involved?
We would really appreciate any subscribers and associates who would like to take part to do so – we can assign you a label virtually if needs be.

All gifts will need to be brand new, unwrapped and either delivered (please email info@eightfoundation.co.uk to confirm drop off as government guidelines may dictate an alternative to our offices) or sent via AmazonSmile (please email me for the address) by 18th December 2020.

Thank you for your support!

So, although 2020 has been a difficult year, it has also been one where Eight Foundation has done a lot of work and given more support to different people and causes than ever before.

We hope that you are all able to find moments of peace, love and happiness this Christmas and we are looking forward to continuing our work in 2021.

Best Wishes
