EUCAN Dissemination and Communication Group Newsletter

 

Welcome to the second edition of the EUCAN Dissemination and Communication Group's newsletter. The group consists of representatives from the six projects that were funded under the Horizon 2020 call SC1-BHC-05-2018 (CINECA, EUCANCan, EUCAN-Connect, euCanSHare, iReceptor Plus, ReCoDID). 

This edition includes articles that provide updates on the individual EUCAN projects, recent publications by the consortia, and relevant upcoming events.

CINECA: Implementation of GA4GH standards in CINECA

The Global Alliance for Genomics and Health (GA4GH) is a standards setting organisation that aims to facilitate research in genomic and healthcare data. Within CINECA some of these standards are already in use and in the coming months, a series of GA4GH blogs will be continued to provide more detail on the standards that CINECA is working to develop and implement. iReceptor Plus: Evaluating how data from different methods could – or could not – be compared

The relevant study ‘Benchmarking of T cell receptor repertoire profiling methods reveals large systematic biases’, conducted by Prof. Encarnita Mariotti-Ferrandiz from Sorbonne University and an 18-member research team, has been recently published in Nature Biotechnology. Read more » 
 

EUCANCan webinar recap: New IT approaches in genome analysis

EUCANCan co-hosted the webinar ‘New IT approaches in genome analysis’ with ESPACE, another Horizon 2020-funded health research project, on 11 January 2021. The webinar offered a platform for business and academia representatives to meet and engage on common issues. Read more »

EUCANCan: The European Commission launches Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan

To turn the tide against cancer, the European Commission launched Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan on February 3, 2021. The plan aims to reduce the cancer burden for patients, their families, and health systems. Read more »

ReCoDID project promotes collaboration in genetic research and cross-information sharing

Representatives of ELSI Work Packages agreed on two potential group investments: an extension of CINECA’s map of laws and policies that relate to sharing participant-level data, with a focus on high dimensional data collaborative development of examples and supplementary guidance for the Commission nationale de l'informatique et des liberté’s tool to create a Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA). Read more »
