Registration To Vote

Don’t forget to vote in Washington’s August 2nd primaries! There are many important seats up for election (including Secretary of State, U.S. Senate, and state representatives).

Primaries decide which candidates make it onto our ballots in the November general election. Historically, those who vote in primaries are older, whiter, and more conservative. This means that the candidates who make it to the general election are not truly representative of our communities. Use your voice and vote!

If you’re currently 17 but will be 18 by the November general election, you can vote in the August 2nd primaries!

Check out the Thurston County League of Women Voters’ candidate forums to learn more about who you’re voting for and their views:

TCMedia Workshop

Are you interested in learning how to edit videos, film, or anything media? Do you know there are media workshops and orientations in our Thurston community?

Our Community Engagement Intern went to the workshop for June and July, and here are some of her highlights:

First Workshop: How to Make a Film
Brendon Thompson is a local filmmaker and he talks about the basics in producing and script breakdown. He recommend different organizations to help with writing scripts (OlyFilm have scripts for filmmakers to produce). The big takeaway is the marketing and what ways to release the film. In the marketing aspect, it is best to post different content in different social media platforms to promote the film (depending on the audience: post on TikTok’s to attract younger audience, post on Facebook for older audience). Lastly, he list streaming platforms other than YouTube such as Amazon, Indieflix, and Vimeo.

Second Workshop: How to Edit Using Final Cut Pro
Robert was holding a workshop about how to edit using Final Cut Pro. This orientation shows the studio, control room, editing room, and all the equipments.
