In accordance with the Executive Order issued by Governor Lee and the latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the University is amending the COVID-19 policy as follows.

Beginning May 7, faculty, staff and students will no longer be required to wear masks outside on campus grounds. We will still require masks to be worn inside on all University facilities (Main Campus, Park Avenue, Lambuth, Millington, Collierville and the Law School). We will continue to maintain appropriate social distancing both inside and outside. As a reminder, face masks must fit and be worn appropriately:

  • Fully cover an individual’s nose and mouth;
  • Fasten securely with ties or ear loops and allow the individual to remain hands-free;
  • Fit snugly, but comfortably, against the side of the face;
  • Can be disposable or reusable; and
  • Should be made of breathable material.

The University of Memphis will continue providing a voluntary vaccine community service for faculty, staff and students in partnership with the City of Memphis and the Baptist Medical Group. As a reminder, there is widespread vaccine availability without an appointment, and the University is offering a shuttle to the Pipkin site Monday through Friday through May 7. Register at bit.ly/VaccineRide.

Additionally, the Baptist Memorial Group (BMG) will provide first and second doses of Pfizer vaccine to faculty, staff and students on Thursday, May 13, from 9 am-4 pm in the Rose Theatre Lobby. This site does not require pre-registration. For any questions regarding this vaccine distribution, please call 901.227.TEST (8377).

The University is shifting COVID-19 testing from the Hub to the Student Health Center. The facility will offer testing on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 9 am-2:30 pm. If an individual needs testing outside of these dates and times, please contact the health center at studenthealth@memphis.edu or 901.678.2287.
