Term 3 Dates Sat 31st July – Sat 28th August

Please note that there will be play on the first weekend of the July school Holidays. Competition times will vary this year to allow us to space out our player and spectator numbers.

Please also note that teams will only be entered into competition if there are sufficient numbers to make a team and the parental support is in place.  The school helps facilitate entries but does not offer equipment, uniforms or coaching for Hockey.

Auckland Hockey offer the following competitions

Fun Sticks – Year 1 & 2
This is an exciting hands-on hockey programme designed for children 5-6 years who are new to hockey. We offer an advanced and beginner grade for Fun Sticks. They play with a modified ball (light balls).

The advanced grade is for children who have played in this grade previously and this is now their 2nd year of hockey. In the advanced grade teams play 2 x 20 minute games in a 6 a-side format against other clubs and schools. They play on an 1/8 of a turf.

The beginner grade is for children new to hockey. They do a fun sticks training session followed by a 20 minute game in a 6 a-side format against other clubs and schools. They play on 1/8 of a turf.

Our Fun Sticks normally play 8am-8.50am on Saturday mornings.

Mini Sticks – Year 3 & 4
Auckland Hockey offer various grades from beginner to experienced in Mini Sticks. They play a 6 a-side format of 1 x match broken into 2 x 20 minute halves against other clubs and schools. They play on a 1/4 of the turf. During this time they should be rotating positions on the field. They play with a modified ball (light balls).

Mini Sticks normally play at 8am or 8.50am on Saturday mornings.

Kiwi Sticks – Year 5 & 6
Auckland Hockey offer various grades from beginner to experienced in Kiwi Sticks. They play a 6 a-side format of 1 x match broken into 2 x 20 minute halves against other clubs and schools. They play on 1/2 a turf. During this time they should be rotating positions on the field. Goal keepers can be optional in this grade and hitting, penalty corners, auto pass and standard hockey balls are introduced.

Our Kiwi Sticks normally play at 8am or 8.50am on Saturday mornings.

COST- The cost per player is worked out once registrations are received. This cost per player will be worked out by dividing the total costs by the number of players across all teams. As an indication, this cost was $75 last year.

COACHING - Practice times to be confirmed once managers and coaches are in place.

EQUIPMENT - Shin pads and mouth guards are compulsory. Students wear PE shirts and green shorts.

Please fill in all the fields in the form below.  These details are needed for each individual in order to register teams. Please note that this form is to ascertain if there is the necessary interest and support to enter teams into Saturday hockey.

Netball

Meadowbank School enter teams into the Auckland Netball St Johns competition for Years 1 to 6. Games will be on Thursday afternoon / evening. For more information on competition dates please see the Auckland Netball website.

By registering with this form you acknowledge that you are happy to pay the set fee for Netball at Meadowbank School. The fee is worked out by dividing the total cost by the number of players across all teams and covers entry into the competition, practice balls, loan of a netball uniform and gear bag. As an indication, this cost will likely be somewhere between $50 and $70.

In previous years the Year 6 group has been the only group that has held trials to establish teams. I have included an option to vote on this for Year 6 players. Please select stay in previous teams or have trials if you are a Year 6 player only.

If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact sport@meadowbank.school.nz

This form is to ascertain interest in being involved in the trial and ongoing training thereafter.
