EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR MESSAGE

Alan Matheson is executive director of The Point.
It has been a busy time at The Point! We have been working hard to refine The Point Framework Plan through meetings with key stakeholders and our conditionally selected development partner, Innovation Point Partners. We continue to have in-depth discussions regarding how best to implement Utahns' priorities for The Hub, including infrastructure financing, community design, sustainability strategies, and transportation solutions.

Abatement of the old prison facilities continues, with demolition anticipated for early next year. In the coming months, we will meet with city councils in the surrounding communities to discuss plan refinements and next steps. In addition, we will continue to engage with Utahns to gather input for an arts program that includes an iconic feature. It is exciting to see everything coming together and we look forward to sharing more soon.

INNOVATION POINT PARTNERS

In-depth workshops with the Land Authority and Innovation Point Partners on framework plan refinements.

Innovation Point Partners' (IPP) extensive national expertise and their robust local presence ensures that The Hub will reflect what Utahns want at The Point. The Hub will focus on building a community that supports Utah families from all stages and walks of life.

The Land Authority is working with IPP to refine The Point Framework Plan. With input from over 10,000 Utahns, the Framework Plan was established to guide future development while providing built-in flexibility to respond to changing conditions. Implementation of the Framework Plan will start with The Hub.

Located at the heart of the site, The Hub will prioritize pedestrians, provide multi-modal transportation solutions, utilize cutting-edge technologies, embrace the arts, and support leading sustainability strategies that minimize water use, improve air quality, and protect the environment.

IPP has committed to prioritizing diversity, equity and inclusion in all of their work, including hiring practices, tenant recruitment, and workforce development.

WHAT'S THE POINT?

Widely recognized as one of the most significant quality-of-life opportunities in Utah history, The Point consists of 600 acres of state-owned land that will foster cutting-edge technological innovation, support robust economic opportunity, offer a diversity of housing options and provide extensive parks and trails.

The site is centrally located in the heart of Utah’s fast-growing technology sector and between Utah’s two most populous counties. It is well served by vital infrastructure and surrounded by more than 20,000 acres of undeveloped land in area communities. It is easily accessible via high-capacity roadways and planned future transit service.
