A word from the SIZA office

It is already the end of May 2020 and somehow it feels like we missed two months this year. We had a different vision to where the year would take us and what we would like to achieve.

While working remotely, everyone faces their own daily hurdles from tutoring the kids, caring for pets, cleaning the house, mowing the lawn, and working at full capacity to keep the company running smoothly.

The SIZA team is back in the office, where we have put together a series of strict measures to not only adhere to the regulations, but also to make sure that everyone is safe and secure in their work environment. We believe this year so far has not only made us appreciate different things in life, but we learned to adapt, to change, and to look differently at certain activities.

Sedex launched a new COVID-19 Modular SAQ

Sedex has launched a new COVID-19 Modular Assessment (SAQ). This assessment aims to gather data so that the buyers related to Sedex can evaluate risks. This SEDEX SAQ was only introduced very recently and is only to be completed upon requested of a buyer. This SAQ is not related to any of the SIZA programme requirements at this time, but we are willing to assist our supplier members to complete and upload it onto Sedex if it becomes a requirement to complete by a buyer.

Please inform SIZA if your buyers have requested the COVID-19 Modular Assessment SAQ must be completed. If the request comes to the SIZA office, we will notify the member with the necessary information as to how this must be done.

What to do when someone presents a fever at work

Do you know what to do when an employee presents a fever when tested coming to work in the morning? Below are the steps you need to follow.

Why a COVID-19 Risk Assessment?

COVID-19 risk assessments are very similar to your normal health and safety risk assessments in that it guides the process to be followed in evaluating risk and what steps need to be taken to rectify problems. You must take reasonable steps to protect your business, workers, and others, such as customers and suppliers, from coronavirus, just as you would for any other risk.

SIZA adapted a template for members to use. Members must adopt a similar assessment within their business as part of national regulations and adapt the assessment to be specific for the business.
