Open Learning Newsletter
Welcome to our second edition of the Newsletter. We hope that everyone is keeping well and looking forward to the better times ahead. Thank you to everyone who has sent in comments. In this edition we have a further 3 Open Learning tutors writing a short piece about their subject area, which we hope you will find of interest. In addition our French tutors serve up a little bit of France.
Ronnie Hanna is one of our well respected History tutors who lectures in British and American History.  Here he writes an article on the Spanish flu which is adapted from his course ‘1918–1919: The Last Year of War, The First Year of Peace’.

Dot Blakely teaches our popular bird watching course. Have you noticed recently the sounds of all the different birds?. See Dot’s short description of how to identify bird sounds and try her brief fun quiz.

Janice McConnell, registered nutritionist (RNutr) with over 20 years’ experience in the field of public health, offers some short practical steps to improving dietary health.

Language Corner

In each newsletter we will look at a different language. This week our French tutors give you a taste of France. Follow Maryannick's recipe on making delicious une tarte à la ratatouille and watch her step by step cooking guide!

Hélène has also put together a COVID-19 crossword and enjoy Maryvonne’s quiz (in English and French – with answers) on French culture.
