The Basic Needs Center and Staff Basic Needs Working Group have received additional funding to support staff in this difficult time. We are able to provide a limited number of $75 Safeway grocery cards to UC Berkeley staff members who are unable to afford groceries.
These funds are intended to serve staff who need additional food assistance to meet their needs right now. If you fit this criteria, we encourage you to complete this quick online grocery card form. Due to limited funding, requests will be accommodated on a first-come first-served basis. We hope to serve as many staff members as possible and will be in touch by June 9.
Gift cards will be available via email or for pick up on campus. Please note that emailed electronic gift cards unfortunately must be printed for use. If you have already received a physical grocery card from the university during the campus closure via your manager, you are ineligible for this additional award.
We are also continuing to hold physical grocery bag distributions until the Food Pantry is able to reopen. The next distribution is Tuesday, June 9th, 2–4pm at Crossroads Dining Hall, 2415 Bowditch Street. No need to sign up in advance, just show up and bring your Cal ID. Please wear a mask and practice 6 feet of physical distancing. If you are immunocompromised or face significant barriers to leaving your home, volunteers are working with the Basic Needs Center to do limited deliveries, please fill out this delivery form.
Additional information and updates about campus and community-based programs and resources can be found on the Basic Needs Center Guide to COVID-19.
Please share this information with your colleagues and reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions or concerns.
