CATHERINE MARSH
Clinical Nurse Specialist in Sexual Assault Forensic Examination (SAFE)

Catherine Marsh currently works as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Sexual Assault Forensic Examination (SAFE), having completed a Post Graduate Higher Diploma in SAFE with the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland in September 2019.  Catherine was recently qualified as an Advance Nurse Practitioner July 2022 from University College Dublin.  In June 2016, she completed a Masters in Applied Health Care Management focusing on gaining an insight of the lived experience of the homeless population on a designated nurse led service.  In 2020 she successfully completed Nurse Prescribing and is now registered to prescribe medicinal products.

Since 2019 she have worked as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in the Mullingar Sexual Assault Treatment Unit, situated in the midlands of Ireland, where she provides comprehensive care for those aged 14 years and over who have experienced rape /sexual assault.  She has a keen interest in continuing research, participating in national research projects, such as Mental Health Vulnerabilities among patients attending Sexual Assault Treatment Units in the Republic of Ireland.  She was elected as the Chairperson to AINM SAFE, the Association of Irish Nurses and Midwives - Sexual Assault Forensic Examiners in 2020. 
CLARE MAHON
Registered General Nurse

Clare Mahon has been a Registered General Nurse since 2009.  She worked in the Emergency Department in London and Mullingar Ireland for five years before becoming interested in Forensics.  She completed a Post Graduate Higher Diploma in SAFE with the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland in January 2016.  She has been a Clinical Nurse Specialist for seven years, working for three years in Galway Ireland, then in the London and Surrey, UK for a further three years  She returned to Ireland in January 2022 and is currently working at the Mullingar Sexual Assault Treatment Unit where she provides comprehensive care for those aged 14 years and over who have experienced rape /sexual assault. 

Clare have a keen interest in working with vulnerable populations in society and ever striving to make the service seamless for their patients, most recently advocating for the introduction of the Cortlexflo camera system, to enhance their photodocumentation.
