I have been in trucking my whole life and I have never been through such a disruptive scenario in our industry, but here we are! What is most important is keeping our employees safe and continuing to operate and service our customers as best as we are able. Together we have weathered what I consider the worst of it and together we look forward to a productive process in returning to some level of what pre-covid transportation looked like.

Every day I get more emails and phone calls from customers saying they're requiring PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) at their facility before we can make a pickup or delivery; all drivers must wear a face mask. Well, that's all fine and good, but where do we get them? We have been on the hunt for face masks since March when the stay-at-home order was issued in Michigan. We've finally landed our first delivery of face masks this week! We have begun disbursing one mask in each care package.

Please call when you are coming through the office so we can make the care package available for you to pick up. Thank you to all drivers who responded to the survey about what items are most useful while traveling on the road. We have begun to make some adjustments based on the survey results as we seek to improve our efforts to support you.

So when will our business be back to more "normal operations" or "Pre-Covid-19 normal"? I reserve this next comment as precautionary - I feel that we are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel! As Michigan begins to see the leveling off of cases Governor Whitmer, as well as some other states, recently announced the process of opening up particular businesses in May. Steelcase announced the return of 1,000 factory workers locally and all RDC locations are operational to receive product. This is a good sign! Although it will take some additional time for Steelcase to ramp the business back up, we were told that M.C. Van Kampen will see more shipments beginning the week of May 18th. Steelcase expects to be completely ramped up by the middle of June assuming that Michigan continues to open up and ease restrictions.

In the meantime, we will continue to haul essential food products around the country to keep our fleet busy and for this we are truly thankful. We all should take pride in and feel blessed that as a company together we are able to adapt so quickly. This allows us to be a small part of feeding America and keeping the wheels rolling! Can I get an Amen!?

Stay safe out there!

Sincerely,
Dave Wozniak, Jr.
Vice President
Masks can be handwashed or washed on a gentle cycle and then hung up to air-dry.
