What's Growing in the Garden
The Organic Learning Garden is in full bloom and growing lots of goodies for the Bodega! Last week we harvested carrots, kale, lettuce, mustard greens, chard, parsley, and fresh thyme.
The Student Life / AS Office added a new compost bin! Your office could be next.
Big shout out to Dr. Isaac Rodrigues Lupercio and his team for being the first department to sign up for a green bin to collect compost. This bin is serviced twice a week by the SMC Recycle Team, and instead of going to landfill, the food waste and other organic materials are sent to American Organics to be processed into nutrient rich soil that can be used on farms.
Your department can also have a green bin for compost! Email Recycle@smc.edu to sign up.
Professors: Please consider offering this workshop as extra credit to your students who complete the 8-week program.
Sustainable Works is a FREE 8 week workshop series that covers one key sustainability topic each week.
Students are required to: attend all 8 workshops; complete 3 at-home projects or 3 hours of community service; complete 2 surveys; and read the Worksbook.
