About the Exhibition

Part of the “Art in MTR” series, this exhibition showcases the hand-embroidered artworks created by textile artist, Nikki Delport-Wepener and her students. The display of over 200 artworks includes 2D and 3D pieces, showcasing different mixed media techniques and stitches. The wide variety of embroideries includes scenes of local life, culture, and heritage, Hong Kong scenery, and flora and fauna, both local and more exotic. All of these are executed in exquisite detail.
About or Guide

Nikki Delport-Wepener began stitching at a very young age, under her mother’s tutelage, who trained in free-style embroidery and mixed media hand embroidery. She later furthered her studies at the Royal School of Needlework and City and Guilds in the UK. In addition to her other talents, Nikki’s Asian skills include Chinese double-sided embroidery, bookbinding, and Qipao construction.
